Cinnamon Rolls with a Twist of Orange, Lime, Coconut and Almond

It is Sunday morning once again. A bright and sunny day ahead of us. Perfect for a stroll on the ice or skiing. The sun is out and it’s -8 C. It gets warmer for each hour as the sun warms us.

I’m baking and experimenting with new flavours for cinnamon rolls. Decided to try without the cinnamon too. You can find the recipe for the dough on the post dated 13 August 2012 and some pictures of the process on the one dated 4 October.

These are the fillings I tried today. Each filling for a quarter of the dough and making 10 roll

1 Orange flavoured sugar (organic), 2 tbsp finely grated almond, zest of half a lime and 25 g melted butter.
2 Sugar, cinnamon and 2 tbsp coconut flakes and 25 g melted butter.

Spread the filling on the rolled out dough and roll tightly. Cut into triangles and stress with little fingers. Brush with beaten egg and bake in 225 C for 10-15 minutes depending on the size of the rolls. Decorate with icing made of a dash of juice and powdered sugar.

Now I’m off to Mom’s. let’s see if I get any reviews.
